A Collaborative Platform for Environmental Education and Conservation
WHAT IS THE WESTERN CAPE ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION FRIENDS (WCEEF)?
The Western Cape has often been described as a ‘world in one province’. With its coastline that stretches more than 1000kms, pristine beaches, majestic mountain ranges, an abundance of wildlife sanctuaries, nature reserves and national parks, as well as its wealth of fauna and flora, this richly diverse natural paradise should be enjoyed – but at the same time protected.
It is here that environmental education and awareness has an important role to play. Whether it be the education of children to appreciate, enjoy and conserve all that the province has to offer, or providing the right sort of guidance to our youth who are considering an environmental career.
The Western Cape Environmental Education Forum (WCEEF) is an independent and voluntary platform for environmental education practitioners (individuals and/or organisations) in the Western Cape who provide education and resources on a wide range of subjects related to nature conservation, environmental protection, and sustainable development practices. It is also responsible for the overall co-ordination and optimisation of the environmental education activities in the Western Cape.
The platform exists to give guidance and strategic direction to the seamless implementation of the environmental education (EE) programmes in the Western Cape, through a collaborative approach and strengthening of the relevant networks in the region.
